EDGER MOTORSPORTS, LLC ACQUIRES HUNTSVILLE SPEEDWAY FACILITY AND PROPERTY FROM ALABAMA TRACK VENTURES

HUNTSVILLE, AL – In a historic transaction for the history and future of stock car racing in the Tennessee Valley and all of North Alabama, Edger Motorsports, LLC and its principals, Robbie and Karen Edger of Harvest, Alabama have finalized a deal to acquire The Legendary Huntsville Speedway complex and its surrounding property from Alabama Track Ventures and its principal representative Frank Bolter.

In the deal that was closed on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020, Edger Motorsports, LLC became the owners of both the Speedway business and the property on which the facility sits. The transaction is historic because for the first time in the 62 year history of the track, a single owner holds both the race track and the property on which it resides. All other track operators ran the facility under a lease agreement with the land owner.

Alabama Track Ventures, headed by businessman and developer Frank Bolter of North Carolina, had acquired the property in 2015 from longtime owners the Webster family, while Robbie and Karen Edger obtained the lease to operate the race track from Sanford, Florida businessman Martin Pierce in early 2016. Bolter had recognized the excellent leadership and positive momentum that the Edgers were building in steering the track and moved to make the deal to sell the facilities and property in full in June of this year.

New track owners Robbie and Karen Edger stated after the closing, “We couldn’t be happier. It is a dream realized to be able to preserve stock car racing for the Huntsville area. Now, we plan to take it to the next level. Our fans and drivers can look forward to numerous improvements and long-overdue renovations to begin throughout the remainder of this year, and certainly in the offseason. We want to make Huntsville the Racing Showplace of the South!

We certainly want to thank all of our drivers and teams, our track staff, our sponsors, and definitely our fans who have supported us throughout the previous four seasons. We could not do it without you! We hope you will join us for the next chapter of this journey for Huntsville Speedway!”

The Legendary Huntsville Speedway, a historic fixture in national motorsports, located at 357 Hegia Burrow Road in southern Madison County, is rich with racing lore having played host to numerous stock car racing superstars in their ascent to national fame. Constructed at its current location in 1959, the track began its life as a dirt track, making the transition to asphalt racing in 1962, when the track hosted a NASCAR Cup Series event, The Rocket City 200 that was won by Richard Petty. Names such as Dale Earnhardt, Sterling Marlin, Darrell Waltrip, Ned Jarrett, the legendary Alabama Gang of Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, and Red Farmer, and many other luminaries have competed at the high-banked quarter-mile track that was quickly dubbed “The South’s Fastest Quarter Mile.”

Today, the track continues to host weekly stock car racing featuring Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, STAR SuperTrucks, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Mini Modifieds, Hot Shot, and 4 cylinder Buzz divisions that allow local and regional drivers to hone their skills and learn their craft as they aspire to the upper echelons of motorsports.

Huntsville Speedway races every Saturday night, March through September.

Qualifying begins at 6PM with racing beginning at 7PM. The track is located at 357 Hegia Burrow Road, Huntsville, Alabama 35803. Contact with Edger Motorsports, LLC may be made by email at huntsvillespeedway@mail.com. The track telephone number is 256-679-5156.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Huntsville Speedway
May 25th, 2020

REMINDER: HUNTSVILLE SPEEDWAY DRIVERS & TEAMS

The first event at Huntsville Speedway became a little hectic with the late start due to the pandemic. A couple of issues to address prior to the next event: (Saturday, May 30th).

(1) REGISTRATION: As soon as you can, register with Wanda Thomas, who is located at the fuel area near the tire barn door. The last event, many drivers failed to register and suddenly showed up, creating a delay.

(2) FUEL: Please make sure fuel is purchased prior to the first green flag waving for the start of the night's racing program. Once the racing program starts, the time is limited to suddenly stop everything in order to purchase fuel.

Overall, the night was a success, typical first night issues, the weather didn't help the situation. Our team at Huntsville Speedway appreciates the support and look forward to seeing you this Saturday night for what should be one of the biggest nights of racing at the speedway in years.
