After a few exciting practices, we are left wanting more! The next practice will be on Saturday the 13th of June. Due to the 20th of June being booked by a private hire, we are also running a practice on the 17th of June. If one of the days does not have many sign up for it, we may need to cancel one! We will let people know straight away if the day they have been booked for might not go ahead!

General Information-

Each day consists of two sessions on Track K (3KM), an 8.30 to 11.30 session, and a 12 to 3 session. YOU MUST PRE-BOOK! Email us at entries@morganparkraceway.com.au by Thursday, or call on 0437471433 (Monday to Friday (Friday afternoon at the absolute latest)). It’s $60 before the meeting (EFTPOS if absolutely necessary, I will find you in the pits), bank details to be sent after booking.

We have heaps of space, and are allowing 1 pit person if needed (we have a statement of compliance). You need to let us know if you are bringing someone!

AASA Clubman or Motorsport Australia L2S licence or above is required. A day licence can be obtained from AASA.com.au at any time ($35 for a day licence, $95 for an annual).

You can gain access half an hour before your session. If you are in the morning session, we ask that you exit the premises by 12 at the latest. Gathering limits are strictly enforced, so someone may not come in until after some people have left (hopefully we will get an exemption soon, we have plenty of space to put people while they wait!). During the cross over in sessions, we may ask that you unload on the grass, and move on to your pit shed once the other group is gone.

Finally, we will send you a disclaimer form as well, and on the day the gate will be locked. My number is on the front gate, so give us a call, and I will zip down and grab the disclaimer form and get you to fill in a quick COVID form (eg “I have not travelled overseas in the past 14 days etc).

Please let us know whether you would like the Saturday (13th of June) or Wednesday (17th of June) slots, and what session you would like to attend. We will need- your Motorsport Australia or AASA licence number and expiry, the driver’s name, and the car you will be running.

There will be no practice on the 20th or 21st of June, however we are looking to start practice again the following weekend. The goal is to keep doing a practice once a week until everyone is all practiced out, and then we are looking to go to once a fortnight.

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you all of the passing of one of our hardworking volunteers and club member. Greg Bell passed away last weekend from what is suspected to be a heart attack. A member since 2018, he has been a loyal volunteer and a formidable race driver. He was always volunteering to help in any way he could and was always happy and a great mate to have a laugh with. He will be missed very much.
>
> To all those who know him, his family and friends, from me personally and the members of the WDSCC committee, we send our deepest condolences at the loss of Greg.
>
> Another sad note, Denise Staude, wife of Peter Staude, a former WDSCC member, also passed away last weekend. We also send our condolences to those who knew Denise, a regular volunteer in our Morgan Park canteen in the past.

Possible Practice 24th of May 2020

You may have heard that restrictions are easing, because of that we have just found out that we may run a small practice on the 24th of May (that’s this Sunday!). This is still dependent on us getting a permit, however we have been told it should be granted.

If you live within 150KMs of Warwick (or know someone who does), or have an exemption as part of your car related business, you are eligible to apply for this practice. After the 12th of June, we will open up this practice to more than 250KMs away.

It will be on the 2.1km track (Track E), and this will be divided into 3 sessions of 2 hours each, with potentially 10 people in each session. The first session will start at 8’oclock and go until 10. The next session will start at 10:30 and go until 12:30. The final Session will go from 1 until 3, with half an hour to pack up, and out the gate by 3:30. This is limited to drivers only (no pit crew, or spectators for these sessions) and drivers will required to leave as soon as their session has ended. There are ONLY 10 spots in each session, with only the driver allowed.

Sessions will be run open pitlane style if we have all sedans. If we notice significant speed discrepancies, we will run it in loose 15 minute sessions. If we have a mixture (open tops/sedans), sessions will be run in loose 15 minute groups or rounds as necessary, the same as a usual practice.

The participants for each of the sessions will be “quarantined” into completely separate areas to each other. For example participants in the first session will be based in the pit bay area on the dummy grid, and participants in the second session will be based in the carports near pit straight. At the end of your session you will be required to leave straight away to keep the number of people on the track compliant to the number allowed. If a member of another session has arrived, we require that you do not engage in conversation with them, and to stick to your allocated area.

It will be necessary for you to register for your spot with us and these spots will be allocated on a first in best dressed basis. The aim is to get as many drivers on the track as possible over the period of time. If you wish to participate in more than one session we will put you on a wait list for the second session if there are vacant spots available.
The cost for each of the 3 sessions is $60 for each session (we are still hashing out costs with our providers, this may go up or down at future practice sessions, we will aim to stay as cheap as possible).

Registration needs to be done beforehand to minimise the amount of contact on the day. You can do this by a) sending us an email or phoning through your interest by giving us these details:-
• your name,
• address
• phone number
• an indication of which time slot you wish to attend. 8-10, 10.30-12.30, 1.00-3.00
• make and type of car and CCs
• attach a photograph of your Motorsport Australia or AASA licence

We are accepting email applications now (entries@morganparkraceway.com.au), and will accept phone calls on 0437471433. Any email applications will be based on time. We have had a few people calling and emailing us over practice dates over the past month, and preference will be given to them. You need to call us the day before to confirm your slot (this is all experimental, and we do not want someone to come all this way and miss out).

On the day – bring with you a copy of the disclaimer form that we will send you once we have allocated you a slot, please fill it out and sign and date it the 24th May 2020.

On confirmation of your registration you will need to direct deposit your payment into our account, but please only do this once you have received confirmation of our registration when we will send you the correct banking details. We would prefer not to take payment on the day, but if necessary only through tap and go eftpos transactions.

DON’T JUST TURN UP ! – Sorry but for this to work we need to be vigilant about this. On arrival you will need to stay in your car at the gate and phone so you can be admitted and only those who have booked and confirmed by calling the day before will be allowed to enter. Our volunteers will be pre-determined before the event and will also be included on the list of attendees (they are not included in the 10 people restriction). Needless to say if you are unwell, have travelled overseas in the last 14 days or been with someone who has been overseas in the last 14 days to please stay home and we will see you at the next practice. . We will be following the necessary infection control procedures at the date – temperature checks, hand sanitizing and we reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone showing Covid symptoms.

Safety talk will be done over the PA system in the pit areas prior to each session starting to arrive 15 minutes before your session, and you will need to stay in your allocated groups area while you are there. We will be following the required health and safety measures during the day.

Snack packs (cake or slice, and a “fill your own” coffee cup) are available to be pre-ordered and will be ready for when you arrive if you would like.

You have to email us first to check if we have a spot in your desired session! If we fill up quick, and we run another practice session soon, first preference will be given to those who missed out. If we have 9 sedans, and 1 open wheeler in one session, and then multiple open wheelers in another session, we will ask that the open wheeler to move sessions.

Please forward this to anyone you know that may be interested!

This is in no-way an exhaustive description of what may be involved. If interested, please email us or call, and if accepted for a session, we will send you further details (such as how we will run each session etc). This is a fluid design, so it may change in the lead up to Sunday. If accepted, the first email may simply be acceptance, and further emails will contain more information.
