Just an update on the track and what’s been happening after the cyclone and covid 19 restrictions. We have demolished canteen and bar area ready for new facilities, new lighting poles have been installed into the pit area, we still have repairs to do to the lap scorers hut and a new pit hut to come. A lot of cleaning has been done with a heap of full skip-bins taken away. We have new fencing going up this week with the track walls and poles freshly painted. We would like to thank all of our continuous sponsors and members for their ongoing support and help through this tough time. We definitely can’t wait to get everyone back on the track and to see the track full of our wonderful spectators soon enough. We will post some more progress pictures in the coming days! 😊😊😊 ...

STATE OF THE NATION

Government legislation limiting outdoor gatherings to no more than 500 people have resulted in many venues across Australia cancelling upcoming Speedway events. There are, however, many tracks (highlighted in green below) pressing on with planned shows, giving competitors plenty of opportunity to get their Speedway fix in the coming weeks and months.

We will be providing regular updates for competitors via our Social Media platforms to keep everyone in the loop as to which events are running as scheduled, as soon as we have the information at hand.

Should any clubs or venues consider running events in the coming weeks, don’t hesitate in contacting Sport Development Officers, Adam Brook (NSW, QLD, VIC) or Ross Kirby (WA, TAS, SA and NT) for assistance relating to any new government requirements.

On behalf of the Nickol Bay Speedway we would like to advise you all given the current situation with COVID-19 and the advice given the NBSC will not be running any events until June.
This includes the cancellation of
• City of Karratha Sprintcar Stampede
• Burnout Fest
• Brett Johnson Memorial
We will re-evaluate each month at our general meetings, our next one is scheduled for Tuesday 21st of April.

We came to this decision last night at the general meeting this was not an easy decision but for the health, safety and wellbeing of all our members volunteers and spectators its the best as they are our number 1 priority.
Any changes along the way all members will be informed of.
Please if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact our president Stevie O’Dowd 0408795069

Long Live Local!

7 Reasons Why Supporting Local Business is Good for Your Community.

1. Local businesses are more likely to utilize other local businesses such as banks, service providers, and farms.

2. For every $100 you spend at local businesses, $68 will stay in the community.

3. Independent retailers return more than three times as much money per dollar of sales to the community in which they operate than chain competitors. Independent restaurants, for example, return more than two times as much money per dollar of sales than national restaurant chains.

4. Small businesses account for 65% of all new jobs over the past 17 years.

In addition to helping build the local economy, there are also notable intangible benefits that come from supporting businesses in your local community.

5. Local businesses are owned and operated by your neighbors! They care about and are invested in the well-being of your community and its future.

6. Local businesses are more accountable to their local communities and donate more money to non-profits. KMH for example, are long time supporters and sponsors of Nickol Bay Speedway, Dampier Billy Cart Derby, Karratha BMX Club,
Karratha Motox, Local Variety bash cars, and Karratha Country Club.

7. Supporting local businesses is also great for the environment because they often have a smaller carbon footprint than larger companies.

Well we hope that everyone is safe after TC Damien! Once we got the all clear yesterday we decided to head out to the track and see what damage had been done. We knew that things would probably be a mess but what we walked into was something we were not prepared for nor had we never seen before, we are all so devastated to see the destruction that’s left behind.
We are very lucky to have amazing members, sponsors and supporters! We know over the coming months we will rebuild bigger and better. We will keep everyone up to date on what’s going on but please bear with us as we hope 🤞🏽 to be up and running for our 2020 season.
