ATTENTION:
One thing I’ve learned over the past several months is that life happens when you least expect it! I never thought I would become ill and have a major life reset, and I especially never expected that I would have to make changes and choices that would detour my plans for owning Unity Raceway, which has always been my dream.
But this is not going to be a post about the negative side of what I’ve experienced, I think many of you already know that it has been challenging and difficult physically and emotionally on me, my family and employees.
I want to focus on the positive aspects of my situation, of my life for which I am very grateful, and let everyone know of a very big decision that I have made.
My dream has always been to own Unity Raceway. I have had a vision of filling the stands with fans, the track with race cars and bringing back the family fun atmosphere. My family has invested time, effort and money to move towards this goal. But then life happened, and I found myself in a position with little room for movement.
When we continually hit a wall and feel stuck, when nothing seems to be working, it’s time to re-evaluate and change direction. I have been so focused on how I would be able to own the track, do the repairs and fund it all, that I have not given my health the attention it so desperately needs to rebound and recover.
It is clear to me now, that in order to regain my strength and well-being, I need to make my health, my first and most important priority. So, I have decided to exit the agreement to own Unity Raceway and invest instead, in my health, my family and my life.
I have to say, that as hard a struggle as it has been coming to this decision, it feels like the right thing to do, and to do now. I know there will be people who will choose to focus on the negative aspects of this decision and the current condition of the track itself. I understand, and I accept that. Life has shown me that things are constantly shifting and changing, they have to. Sometimes change can be scary, but sometimes it can be the beginning of something incredibly positive and amazing.
The only thing I know for sure at this moment, is that I have a wonderful opportunity. I can choose to take the time necessary to get well. I can invest my energy in things that make me feel happy and hopeful. I can be grateful for the experiences I’ve had in managing and owning my favorite race track, and being a part of an incredible racing community. I can surround myself with positive people and set new goals for a life that is all that I could wish for and more… good health, loving family, loyal friends, and joyful moments.
When we let go of what no longer works, we make room for new and better opportunities to come in. I am ready to move forward in my recovery, and I am excited to see where this journey will take me and my family.
I truly appreciate all of the support from family and friends. It means the world to me. There is a saying…it may not always be easy, but it will always be worth it. I’m banking on it!
Thank you,
George Fernald Jr.
